Lighthouse Oval

Long before radio and GPS, sailors told one lighthouse from the next by daylight, using the pattern painted on each tower: bands, checks, diamonds, or a bold stripe winding around it like ribbon on a maypole. Those daymarks still pull travelers off the highway today, map in hand and a lighthouse passport waiting for its next stamp. This Lighthouse Oval honors the striped tower everyone remembers from a summer trip up the coast, with four slanted bands spiraling up to the lantern room and a broad base planted firmly at the bottom. Hand-cut from a single piece of metal, it carries a black finish with a fine, speckled texture that gives the dark surface a quiet shimmer. Through the open stripes the paint behind it peeks out, so the tower looks banded in two tones, and the oval ring around it meets the lantern cap at the top. It goes up in minutes with small nails, double-sided tape, velcro, or magnets. It packs plenty of coastal character into small places: the wall of a camper or RV, the guest bath at a beach rental, the entry where the car keys hang, a bright sunroom, or a craft room full of shells and sea glass. Nautical wall decor with a road-trip story behind it, and a perfect gift for the traveler who plans vacations around which lighthouses they can climb.
